John Baker, President, eTechSuccess
John Baker is the founder and owner of eTechSuccess, a consulting company offering clients advice on how to successfully adopt emerging technologies. Based on years of developing applications based on leading edge technologies, Mr. Baker offers structured workshops and service offerings that focus on various technologies including RFID, telematics, wireless devices, convergent networks, web 2.0, and cloud computing. Prior to starting up eTechSuccess Mr. Baker was the leader of the IBM Wireless Applications Services Practice. This team developed solutions for businesses across North America using various wireless and mobile technologies. Mr. Baker was one of the founders of an Emerging Business Opportunity (EBO) organization in IBM for wireless in 1999. Peggy Baker, Exec. Director, The EASL Institute NFP
Peggy Baker has been involved with non-profit organizations and technology for more than two decades. She has consulted with schools nationally on technology planning, technology integration, and, most recently, approaches to student assessment. Peggy's background ranges from being the first woman to complete an apprenticeship (locomotive mechanics) for Southern Pacific Railroad, through teaching in apprenticeship and job readiness programs, serving as a union organizer at a large public hospital, running precinct and other political operations in a city-wide mayoral campaign, to writing and distributed one of the first clinical HIV-care software programs developed to help physicians working in clinics in the mid-1990s, to developing school-based software for student achievement and training teachers, students and school leaders in using technology to support student learning. She is currently the executive director of the EASL Institute NFP (EASL = Equity and Achievement for Standards-based Learning) and works with schools in North Carolina and nationally. A. Kathy Bradshaw is the Human Resources Librarian for the University Libraries at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina. She has spent the majority of her career in corporate Human Resources positions before making the transition to academic libraries in 2007. Kathy earned a Master of Science in Human Resources Management with a concentration in Training and Development from the New School of Social Research and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Rutgers University. Dawn has dedicated her career to nonprofit communications. Paula Jones, Director of Technology & Administration, N.C. Center for Nonprofits
Paula Jones is director of technology and administration at the N.C. Center for Nonprofits. She interned at the Center while she attended N.C. State University, where she graduated cum laude and received a BS in biological sciences and science education. Paula taught high school in Raleigh for three years before returning to the Center in 2003. Julia Kulla-Mader, IT Manager, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
Julia Kulla-Mader is AASHE's IT Manager. She studied usability, database and web development at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science, where she earned a master's degree in Information Science. Julia graduated from University of California, San Diego with a degree in Political Science in 2000. She previously worked as a web developer/information architect and middle school math teacher. Before becoming a teacher, Julia was an analyst at Bainbridge Consulting and a prospect researcher for the Children's Hospital, San Diego Foundation. Trish Perkins, HandyCapable Solutions
After a mid-life retirement to raise kids, travel and write about travel and intercultural communication, Trish Perkins went back to college and geared up for a new career as a technology consultant. She provides advice and software support for nonprofits both in the States, through HandyCapable Solutions, and abroad, through her nonprofit Worlds Touch. Denise Tawwab
Denise Tawwab is the CEO of NC Connected, Inc. a Raleigh-based nonprofit that teaches web design and internet technologies to girls from rural and underserved communities across North Carolina. In 2009 Denise started a social media training firm called Bus 23. At Bus 23 we teach businesses/nonprofits to leverage tools like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube to connect with their customers, clients, and other constituents. Denise loves having tools that level the playing field so that a small nonprofit can reach an audience that it could have only dreamed of reaching a few years ago. She also gets a major kick out of helping people overcome the fear of "Web 2.0" tools and showing them what's possible.
